Many people at this time of the year are motivated to make a change in their career and in their life to make the next big move…
The problem is how?
Without a set strategy how do you expect to achieve your career goals? That is like shooting darts without aiming.
This is a 5 step checklist to ensure you are hitting your career goals:
1) Know what your good at and what your bad at? Once you understand this then you can double down on what your good at.
2) Understand the market demands, where is the market heading towards? Are you living for today or are you living in preparation for the next 10 years?
3) What is your value add to a business? Do you see yourself as a technical hands on person who loves to do the nitty gritty, or are you better at stakeholder management, high level overview?
4) Understand the career path and what skills and product knowledge gap you have before you further embark on your career goals…
5) Measure your success – If you don’t track or measure your success then you won’t know what your working towards, nor will you know how to hold yourself accountable. So write down on a piece of paper, what an ideal situation would be for you over the next 5 years… and break it down in to smaller goals.
